The “Switch to Satellite” campaign by Charter Spectrum—starring comedian Kevin Nealon—used tongue-in-cheek sci-fi humor to mock traditional satellite TV services and encourage viewers to switch to Spectrum. In the ads, Nealon plays “Captain Telstar,” commander of an aging “Satellite TV Headquarters” spacecraft that suffers from technological issues like “rain fade” and cumbersome service transfers.

The campaign juxtaposes the outdated, glitch-prone nature of satellite providers with Spectrum’s more reliable, modern cable alternative. Each spot ends with the tagline: “It’s time to move on from satellite.”

The approach blends satire, character-driven storytelling, and competitive messaging to position Spectrum as the smarter, more dependable choice.
